DIY Detox Tea Recipes For Radiant Skin

Perfect skin is a mystery - everyone wants it but few people actually have it. With the technology of Photoshop and Instagram filters, it’s hard to tell who actually has that picture perfect skin. In reality, everyone gets acne, dry skin and age spots. With so much pollution, dirt and chemicals in the air and in our products, there’s no wonder our skin is under toxic overload. Add seasonal changes, bad diet and hormones to that mix and you’re sure to end up with a blemish or two.

Why these ingredients are amazing for your skin:

  • Lemons - Lemons naturally stimulate your liver and help to flush out any toxins. It’s also a mild diuretic, it’ll make you have to visit the washroom more often but in doing so you’ll be helping your urinary tract get rid of any unwanted toxins. Lemons are also full of vitamin C, which helps to fight damage caused by free radicals and help your body to produce collagen.

  • Ginger - Ginger is also another fighter of free radical damage and can help to reduce inflammation caused by acne. It’s also great for your hair as it increases circulation to your scalp and stimulates hair growth.

  • Turmeric – Turmeric has been around for centuries and has been known to help fight the signs of aging. Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can help reduce redness.

  • Cayenne – Cayenne is a great natural solution for those suffering from acne. It helps to prevent and treat acne by increasing blood flow to the skin. Cayenne pepper is also rich in Vitamins C and E and chock full of anti-oxidants to benefit the skin. Daily ingestion of cayenne pepper has been shown to reduce the severity of acne.

  • Cinnamon – Cinnamon is full of anti-oxidants, which help to fight against infection. It has also been shown to stabilize blood sugar levels, which can in turn help your skin.

  • Black Pepper - Black pepper is most beneficial when taken in conjunction with turmeric as it helps the body absorb the rewards of the herb.

Taking detox teas on a regular basis will help your body expel toxins quickly - while this is beneficial for your body, it can have a negative effect on your skin as it can cause breakouts. The good news is that these breakouts are only temporary and once your body has gone through the complete detox, you’ll actually notice an improvement in your skin.

It’s important to remember that detox teas are not and should not be the only solution for naturally radiant skin. A good natural skin care routine with the right products for your skin type is just as important. Eating right, drinking detox teas and choosing the right natural skin care products are all keys to getting that perfect skin you’re after!
